Welcome

Seeing the musical growth in our students really excites me! What could be better than having students become enthusiastic about creating quality music and expressing themselves through quality performances. This is my 11th year at MMS. I love working here. I've now been teaching for twenty-some years.

Music really benefits children. For example, high school music students score higher on SATs in both verbal and math than their peers. In 2001, SAT takers with coursework/ experience in music performance scored 57 points higher on the verbal portion of the test and 41 points higher on the math portion than students with no coursework/ experience in the arts. Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2008 Scentsy fundraiser or who just donated money to our program instead. We raised about $700 for the program.

Thanks to the Albany Schools Foundation for the grant of $500 to pay for instrument repairs of community donated instruments. We appreciate your continued support of our music program in 2009.
