McMinnville Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament

Dear Forensic Director,

 

The McMinnville Speech and Debate Team cordially invites your team to the McMinnville High School Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, January 30th, 2010.  Individual events, and four types of debate will be offered: LD Value, CX, Public Forum, and Public Debate.   

Public Debate topics will be based on Current Events.

LDV and Public Forum will use JANUARY DEBATE TOPICS.

CX. will use the CX Topic for the 2009-2010 year.

 

Since there is little chance before the district meets to have junior and senior speakers compete with each other, we will have open division in all events.

 

 

        EVENTS:

Pattern A: ADS, Radio, DI, Duo, Oratory, Lincoln Douglas Value, CX, LIBIELL

 

Pattern B: Poetry, Public Debate, Expos, Extemp, Prose, HI, Public Forum Debate

 

ͺͺͺREMEMBER:     

* Debaters may not double enter in their pattern.

* Multiple individual event entries are allowed, at the speakers risk. Rounds will not be held for late speakers.

*Extemp Speakers should go to their other event first in A pattern and then to prep, (missed prep time is at the speakers risk, prep time will not be made up)                  

 

 

 

AWARDS:        Framed Certificates for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in each event.

                  Sweepstakes Gnomes for the top three schools.

   

DEBATE:

        Only a TOTAL of 3 L.D. Debaters

        Only a TOTAL of 6 Debate Teams 

 

SCHOOL FEE:        $30.00

 

ENTRY FEE: Individual events $5.00, ($8.00/duo)

Debate: 8.00 per entry

 

JUDGING:         Each school will judge five rounds to fulfill judging duties for the tournament.  Additional judges will be from McMinnville’s faculty or local college judges and community members.  PLEASE BRING TWO JUDGES TO EACH DO FIVE ROUNDS IF YOU HAVE OVER 15 ENTRIES.  Schools with CX teams, must bring CX judges.  Please indicate on your registration what your judges are qualified to judge.

 

LUNCH:     There will be a snack bar for those that do not bring a sack lunch.   

 

REGISTRATION:   DUE by 12pm on Wed Jan 27th.  No late entries.  Corrections only accepted until Thursday, Jan 28th at 4pm.  The only changes allowed on the day of the tournament are drops.  Registration will be via e-mail.
