* For many of these topics we will have the services of a Registered Nurse to show proper
technique. Examples of labs that will be done:
- Physcial Exam Lab
- Blood Borne Pathogen Lab
- Sterile Technique Lab (proper way to put on sterile gloves, gowns, etc.)
- Body Mechanics Lab (moving patients, performing range-of-motion exercises, bed making,
walking with crutches, etc.)
- Vital Signs Lab (measuring blood pressure, pulse, etc.)
- Hematocrit and Blood Sugar Lab
- Dental Exam Lab
- Intake and Output and Urinalysis
* There will also be a Registered Nurse to teach the First Aid/CPR part of the course and you
can earn a card for both.
II. Second Semester
Students will be visiting as many as 6 different sites to get an appreciation for the medical/nursing field.
You will mostly be observing but, depending on the site, you may be able to get more involved.
